The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is an international standard-setting body composed of representatives from various national standards organizations. Founded on 23 February 1947, the organization promotes worldwide proprietary, industrial, and commercial standards. It is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, and works in 165 countries. It was one of the first organizations granted general consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council.
With the continuous expansion and internationalization of the commodity economy, to improve the credibility of products and safeguard the rights and interests of producers, distributors, users, and consumers, this third certification party is not subject to the economic interests of both producers and sellers. A pass for the quality evaluation and supervision of products and enterprises; as a basis for customers to review the supplier’s quality system; enterprises can meet the technical requirements of their ordered products.
The significance of certification
In the 2000 version of the ISO9000 series, ISO9001 is the standard for quality management system certification. The certification of a company can prove its ability to stably provide products that meet the requirements of customers and applicable laws and regulations. The effective operation of the system can enable companies to improve and obtain better benefits. Like, improve the level of corporate management, improve the quality and reputation of the supplier, guide the demander to select supplier units, and enhance the company’s market competitiveness.
Application for certification
An organization applying for ISO 9001 certification is audited based on an extensive sample of its sites, functions, products, services, and processes. The auditor presents a list of problems (defined as “nonconformities”, “observations”, or “opportunities for improvement”) to management. If there are no major nonconformities, the certification body issues a certificate. Where major nonconformities are identified, the organization presents an improvement plan to the certification body; once the certification body is satisfied that the organization has carried out sufficient corrective action, it issues a certificate. The certificate is limited by scope and displays the addresses to which the certificate refers.
